Samsung Galaxy S III is official: 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Exynos processor and gesture functions

The Galaxy S III is Samsung's new flagship smartphone and it's finally broken cover at the company's stand-alone Mobile Unpacked event here in London. With a steady stream of fakes, outright leaks and even event rescheduling, Samsung's claimed almost crazy levels of interest for its new smartphone. Weighing in at 133g (4.7 ounces) and whittled to 8.6mm at its thickest, the rounded-off design has more than a little bit in common with its Galaxy Nexus cousin. Of course, it's Samsung's new 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor doing the legwork, and there's 1GB of RAM to help it out. The display has been bumped up in size to a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED affair, sporting a 1280 x 720 pixel count. Happy snappers will have an 8-megapixel rear shooter to play with, and a 1.9-megapixel eye on the front will take care of those video calls. If you were wondering about radios, it's launching with HSPA+, but there's an LTE version in the cards. As for the interface, it's TouchWiz on top of Android 4.0 again, and there's new gesture functions to help you get around. Today, Spotify is releasing its long-awaited iPad app -- finally giving Apple tablet users, who also have a Spotify Premium (paid) subscription, a native route to accessing its 17-million song catalog. The BeoPlay V1 TV, which we got a sneak peek at just over a week ago, has a slot to connect your Apple TV without wires spoiling the look of your upscale loft. Both 32- and 40-inch versions have relatively powerful speakers, too, with as many as three 32W amps in the 40-inch version being joined by discrete treble / mid speakers and a bass unit. Either of the 1080p TVs carries a 100Hz refresh rate, five HDMI inputs, and a USB port for your music and photos. Just as new is a BeoPlay A3 speaker dock for the iPad, which nestles your first- or second-generation iPad into what Bang & Olufsen calls a "stable wedge" that not only keeps the iPad comfy but adapts the speakers to get maximum output. An eight-hour battery keeps the speakers completely wireless, although it won't charge your iPad in the process. The company will have the V1 in British shops on May 3rd at a comparatively frugal £1,999 ($3,238) and £2,499 ($4,047) for the respective 32- and 40-inch sizes, while fans of Hamlet's homeland will have to wait until May 23rd to pay £449 ($727) for an A3 dock, a picture of which you can find after the break.

One of the most frustrating online experiences for me is trying to track down a web page or tweet that I saw a few days ago. If I'm lucky, I bookmarked the page or favorited the tweet, but most of the time I haven't, and so I can only sit there and fume. So basically, a startup called Archify is the answer to my prayers. It's a browser plugin that tracks every website you visit (excluding https pages and websites you visit in Incognito mode), and also allows you to connect your Facebook and Twitter accounts for archiving. Then, when you're trying to find something later, you just search the archives like you'd search the Web.

'NSYNC? Boyz II Men? Celebs Pick Their Top Boy Bands!

'Jersey Shore' star Vinny Guadagnino, Monica, 'Glee' actress Dianna Agron and more weigh in on MTV's Battle of the Boy Bands.

With the Battle of the Boy Bands nearing the Final Four, things are getting pretty intense among fans who are furiously voting to keep their favorite groups in the race.

Along the way, we lost some of the early front-runners, including the Backstreet Boys, 'NSYNC, New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men.

Just because the Boyz were knocked out in the second round of the competition doesn't mean they don't have their die-hard fans out there — among them "Glee" star Dianna Agron.

"When I was growing up, it was 'NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees," Agron told MTV News of the late-'90s boy-band explosion. "I was so obsessed with Boyz II Men in fourth grade. 'Motownphilly' — so good, so awesome."

The R&B group is a favorite of Monica's as well. "My favorite boy band would have to be New Edition and Boyz II Men," she told MTV News. "I don't know if you consider these boy bands though, but they were just unbelievable."

Another popular choice was 'NYSNC, who made a shocking first-round exit when they lost in the final moments of voting to British boy band 5ive. Justin Timberlake and company ruled the charts (and the hearts of teen girls everywhere) in the late '90s.

"I would say 'NSYNC was my favorite boy band. They're amazing, they were so talented," former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O'Day said. "Obviously Justin came from that. We all know we were sweating Justin!"

Posters of Timberlake most certainly lined the walls of millions of fans, including Selena Gomez, who revealed to MTV News that her first crush was the former 'NSYNC member.

Of course, picking just one boy band isn't always easy, which was the problem for Roc Nation's newest member, British singer Rita Ora.

"My ultimate boy band, I have a few: Jackson 5, Jagged Edge — I love Jagged Edge," Ora said. " 'NSYNC, they were the ones, I swear."

But when "Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino picked his ultimate boy band, he opted for keeping it in the MTV family.

"I kinda liked 2ge+her," Vinny admitted. "I loved ['U + Me = Us']."

Mom, son die in accidents hours apart in Wisconsin

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) ? A Wisconsin woman and her adult son were killed in separate traffic crashes just hours apart in a Milwaukee suburb, police said Monday.

Mary J. Moore, 45, died after she was struck by a vehicle on a street in West Allis. A friend was speeding her son, Thomas M. Olson, 22, to the hospital to see her when he struck three parked cars and overturned, West Allis Deputy Chief Charles Padgett said. Olson was killed in the crash about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Padgett said Olson knew his mother had been hit, but he wasn't sure if Olson knew she had died.

"It's emotional. We want to get there fast and sometimes disregard our safety," Padgett said. "I use it to remind people that regardless of the circumstances, be aware of the speed."

The driver of the car OIson was riding in was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He and two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Moore was hit as she lay prone in the street. A motorist following the car that struck her told police it looked as though the vehicle hit a speed bump, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report. The witness did not realize that it was a person until getting closer, the report said.

Padgett said Moore had been drinking before she was hit, but it's not clear how much. An autopsy on her body was expected to be done Monday.

The driver that hit Moore drove off, but officers later found and arrested the person they believe is responsible. That driver may also have been drinking, authorities said.

"In my 24 years (of law enforcement), I've seen a lot of strange things, but don't specifically remember a case like this," Padgett said.

Final Reflections ? BUSINESS, INNOVATION ...

As our final blog for this course, I will reflect on the semester, the trip to Israel, and the final projects in the class. I think this class was an amazing opportunity to combine the classroom experience with real exposure to the industries being studied. It is easy to listen to speakers and hear about companies, but to go to the country that is currently one of the top countries in start up companies and really feel the atmosphere, provides a different understanding. The course itself was interesting and taught me a lot about business. As my first business class, it was a perfect introduction to basic business terms and ideas by learning about innovative and original ideas in Israel. This class and the trip to Israel have come to show me that Israel is one of the most important countries in the business world today which is why it can be referred to as ?the start up nation?.

The trip to Israel was unbelievably helpful in exposing me to the culture and society of the country and the impact it has on the way Israelis work. Israel is completely unique and this affects their industries. The Israelis are rough and intense, eager to work hard and achieve the most successful outcomes. Israeli?s are not afraid to fail, which is why the country has one of the highest rates in successful start-ups. Lastly, the Israelis live by the survival mentality because of their geographical situation and their history, which causes them to fight through all obstacles in order to succeed.

Our final project, to explore a specific industry, was also a helpful part of the course. By focusing on one industry and the role it plays in Israeli society, I was able to use all the information we had learned and apply it to one specific industry. I was also able to use the information from the inspiration speakers we heard from on our trip in order to further understand the impact of my specific industry, the Kibbutz. Although we were not able to visit a Kibbutz on our trip, numerous speakers mentioned the importance of the industry and its critical impact on the Israeli economy.? Overall this class was an amazing opportunity that I would recommend to anyone interested in business and start up companies.
