It didn?t take long for the University of Miami to fill its vacant slot for a running backs coach.
The Hurricanes have gone from within to promote senior football operations coordinator Hurlie Brown ? a longtime defensive backs coach.
Brown replaces Terry Richardson, who left last week to become the running backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars with former UM offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Brown played for the Hurricanes from 1988-91, winning national championships under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson.
Brown was the defensive backs coach at FIU from 2001 to 2006. He served as the secondary coach and kickoff team coordinator during his time at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2007 to 2011.
He also coached as an assistant at Fort Lauderdale Dillard High and Merritt Island High. He is a native of Merritt Island.
For the past two seasons, Brown has been responsible for community outreach and the official visits taken by recruits, as well as serving in other administrative capacities.
